Renowned Chef Lesego Semenya dies of COVID-19
South Africa is in deep pain after receiving terrible news about the death of celebrated and Award winning Chef Lesego Semenya. Taking to social media one of the close relatives posted the sad news.
“It is with great pain that I have to share this: Chef Lesego Semenya has passed away. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts. We have lost a huge part of our heart. We will never be whole again. R.I.P Lesego,” she posted.
People did not take the message well and are showing that they are in pain. Chef Lesego posted on the 9th of July updating his followers on how he was recovering from COVID-19. On that day it seemed all will be well but it is unfortunate we have a lost a motivator and good man.
“Day 5. Still fighting this Covid demon whilst living with a comorbidity. I’m OK, loads of medication and keeping positive. Thank you to those who keep checking up on me. Dr reckons I’ve seen the worst of it now and it’s just about recovery and rest now,” Chef lesego Semenya updated his fans.

The renowned Chef was an author and recently owned full rights to his first book Dijo. He freely shared tips on cooking everything from basic food to fine dining. He also explained the history of spices and other condiments broke down the debate about Wagyu and other types of beef. The TV personality was also open about the struggles that black chefs face in the industry.
His charm and honesty saw him being cast on SABC3’s Top Chef in July 2016. He also recently co-hosted and judged Mzansi Magic’s Celebrity Masterchef, which recently won an SA Film and Television Award.
