Orlando Pirates forward Relebohile Mofokeng popularly knows as ‘President wama 2k,’ has officially been named the club’s Player of the Month for March, further cementing his status as one of the most prolific talents in the Betway Premiership.
The 21-year-old forward secured the accolade following a dominant month on the pitch, punctuated by a maiden professional hat-trick in a 6-0 demolition of TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium. Mofokeng’s March statistics underscore a period of elite efficiency; the attacker recorded four goals and created 20 scoring opportunities across all competitions.
Mofokeng clinched the award through a decisive fan vote, amassing 1,819 votes to edge out a competitive shortlist that included veteran winger Deon Hotto and the highly-rated Oswin Appollis. This marks the third time the youngster has claimed the internal club prize this season, having previously triumphed in December and February.
His consistency extends beyond club honors. Mofokeng’s recent form has also seen him secure back-to-back Betway Premiership Player of the Month awards, making him the focal point of the Buccaneers’ offensive surge.
The “Sea Robbers” are currently benefiting from Mofokeng’s momentum as they navigate a dense fixture list. The forward has already signaled his intent for April, delivering a Man of the Match performance during Pirates’ midweek clash against Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Pirates head coach and technical staff will look to Mofokeng to maintain this trajectory as the squad prepares for a critical away fixture.
“The accolades are a reflection of the work rate Relebohile is putting in. He isn’t just scoring; he’s orchestrating the entire final third,” a club representative noted following the announcement.
Orlando Pirates travel to face Richards Bay on Friday, where Mofokeng will have the opportunity to extend his scoring streak and potentially position himself for an unprecedented third consecutive monthly award.
The Buccaneers currently sit in a favorable position in the league standings as they push for continental qualification.
