Mzansi Magic Viewers can get ready to meet the much-talked-about Zulu brothers and their world of taxi wars and beautiful love stories on The Wife. The series will start airing on Channel 161 on September 12th at 21h30.
MNet announced this exciting news on Monday afternoon.
The Wife is one of the most exciting dramas since Isibaya. The Showmax original is the most watched and has broken several records on the platform.
The premiere of the second instalment of the series saw the most first-time viewers surpassing the first show and therefore breaking its record.
Director of local entertainment at MNet Shirley Adonisi said, ” Having seen its impressive and record-breaking performance on Showmax, we have decided to bring The Wife to our DStv Compact subscribers so that they can get in on the action.”
Adonisi mentioned that as a channel, they know their viewers will appreciate and fall in love with the story and its characters. She says the story has resonated deeply with the audiences, and they are glad to bring them to this exciting world.
The Wife was inspired by Dudu Busani Dube and adapted to the screen by Stained Glass.
The story revolves around a young, feisty journalist Hlomu, played brilliantly by Mbalenhle Mavimvela, who meets this handsome, intense and dangerous taxi driver Mqhele Zulu who Bonko Khoza played.
Hlomu is thrust into a very secretive life of the Zulu brothers, who live their lives on the edge fighting rivals; everything escalates from there.
The story has become one of the most watched series on Showmax, and the third instalment is expected to start airing in November.
Mzansi Magic will air The Wife every three days from Monday to Wednesday, and the Viewers can rest easy because they can enjoy an omnibus every Saturday from 21h30 to 23h00.
The show has been undergoing a bit of transformation, with many of the original cast members exiting the show. These include Bonko Khoza and Mbalenhle Mavimbela, who play Hlomu and Mqhele Zulu, Abdul Khoza and Zikhona Sodlaka. This many unsettled viewers and questions started to flood social media about other characters, especially Bhut’omdala, who has become the pillar of the show played by Mondli Mmakhoba.
The show is currently in production for the third instalment of the show Naledi, his love.
