Radio presenter Kwazi “Captain” Magubane stabbed to death
In a tragic incident South African radio presenter Kwazi “Captain” Magubane was stabbed to death earlier this week. The bubbly presenter was stabbed in a car hijacking incident. Of late Mzansi has recorded an increase in car hijacking death-related. Mzansi is mourning.
However, his death was first announced by his former employer Imbokodo FM on Facebook. The community radio station took it to Facebook to announce the untimely death of their veteran presenter. The 36-year-old leaves behind a five-month-old kid and his fiancée, Thabile Zulu.
Thabile Zulu also confirmed the untimely death of Magubane. All calls were then redirected to Nkosi Gumede and other senior family members for further updates.
Speaking to the Daily Sun it was established that Kwazi was travelling with his two friends from KwaMashu to Sydenham.
“From what we understand, they were followed by an unknown vehicle from KwaMashu. When they got to Sydenham, his friends got out of the vehicle to relieve themselves.
“He was in the car talking on the phone. The suspects attacked him and demanded the keys. But the keys were unfortunately not with him,” he said.

However, it was established that the former presenter was stabbed several times in the neck and chest after failing to find the car keys.
“The suspects ended up fleeing without the car. We are hoping for a quick arrest. There are some positive indications that something is being done by the police.”
However, speaking on the sidelines of his memorial service which was held yesterday. Sthembiso Mbhele described Kwazi as humble. Kwazi’s memorial service was held at eThekwini Community Church.
“He left Imbokodo FM last year to start a transportation business. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” said Sthembiso.
However, the police have since confirmed the incident and have since started investigating the matter. KZN police spokeswoman, Captain Nqobile Gwala said a case of murder was being investigated by Sydenham SAPS.
“A 36-year-old man was allegedly stabbed by unknown suspects on Howell Road on Monday. He was taken to the hospital where he died on arrival. The matter is still under investigation,” said Gwala.
