ProVerb reveals failed suicide attempt after wife cheated with Edwin Sodi
Idols SA presenter and media personality ProVerb has released a memoir in which he reveals some shocking details about his life.
ProVerb talked about a number of issues, from his painful divorce with ex-wife Onalerona Moreo and what he learnt about life from such experiences.
His memoir titled The Book Of ProVerb reveals a lot about his life and affords other people to learn from his life.
The highlight of his book is his revelation about his journey to accepting the departure of his wife from his life after she cheated with controversial businessman Edwin Sodi.
ProVerb revealed that he started by seeking counselling after discovering about the infidelity.
Depression crept in as he felt he has failed and humiliated and not worthy to live his life.
The media personality revealed about a certain Friday night when he went to pharmacies and purchased strong painkillers. He says he went on to hug Onalerona, proceeded to their patio and drank all the pills, attempting suicide. He was lucky to have been discovered and his brother rushed him to the hospital.
ProVerb says he is a human just like anybody, despite having been weak at that moment.
He spoke to All4Women about how he is coping:
“This for me is the biggest takeaway I hope those who read the book receive. I address how depression is a daily struggle and how I service my peace and wellbeing daily by focusing on all the positives, being eternally optimistic and by celebrating the milestones big or small.
“I’m in a fantastic space, personally and professionally. I’m fortunate to do what I love and get so much fulfilment doing it. My kids are blossoming and this is my biggest source of happiness and peace,” he said.
ProVerb says he decided to detail how depression is a disease that affects everyone and has to be fought.
“Depression does not discriminate but it feeds on silence and shame. If we speak more openly about it we can exchange information, ideas and eventually solutions.
“This is also why I felt the need to pen my experiences around this to hopefully lift someone who is struggling or just needs to know that they are not alone and no-one is immune.”
After their divorce, Onalerona has since moved on, wedded another man and have a child together.
