A preacher who calls himself Prophet Shane has been arrested in South Africa for advising citizens to follow Zimbabwe based preacher popularly known as Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s advice. The preacher told South Africans to go out and get used to the covid -19 virus as suggested by Makandiwa.
The South African authorities classified the ‘prophecy’ as misinformation and have taken the preacher into custody.
The Makandiwa sermon that was referenced by Shane can be found here. Makandiwa advised his followers not to take the covid-19 vaccine and told them it was better to get exposed to covid-19 and let the bodies get used to it than to take the vaccine.
The preacher also calls himself the son of Shepherd Bushiri, another controversial church leader in South Africa
He said:
This thing is there but why don’t we go outside as Prophet Makandiwa said so that we get used to it. Lockdown, you can lockdown as much as you want. Because of flue, you sit home. we can lockdown for the rest of thee year or for 5 years. Its coming, this thing is there. You are not going to stop it. This thing is there. It is a waste of time.We sit at home we do nothing. They don’t even believe in prayer, even your president doesn’t believe in prayer. I never heard him mentioning prayer. he mention prayer only once. He doesn’t consult big men of God who know their story. Because of flue we lock down. How many people are dying of hunger. They are lying to you. Who is getting money from the government, which spaza shops. They are lying to you these people. This thing is there but why don’t we go outside as Prophet Makandiwa said so that we get used to it. They say they are finding people with coronavirus, but what about those who do not have it. There will be only one person left who will spread it again.
The South African government has been clamping down on fake news peddlers during the lockdown period. Another high profile case to have been arrested is Somizi Mhlongo, a TV personality who is accused to have lied that the got the information from Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula about the lockdown extension before it was announced by the president.
