Police officer arrested for gunning down his wife
Just a few weeks after bagging a promotion, Sergeant Julian Chirinhe aged 37 dies in a horrific manner. The ZRP police officer dies from gun shots yesterday from her husband. The husband, Sergeant Tichaona Chirinhe aged 38 guns down his wife at their abode in Chitungwiza. The reason for the shooting is still under wraps although Sgt Tichaona who is based at the Crime Prevention Unit of Harare Central Police Station is already in custody.

The National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirms the shooting of Julian, a Sgt in the traffic section. “Sergeant Tichaona Chirinhe is now in police custody for killing his wife. The incident happened this (yesterday) morning in Chitungwiza. After the shooting, the now deceased was rushed to a nearby clinic in Chitungwiza before being transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where she was confirmed dead on arrival,” said Asst Com Nyathi.
Speaking against the abuse of service pistols by police officers, the Assistant Commissioner denounces resolution of arguments through violence. “We do not condone acts of criminality by our members, and in this case the officer has been arrested and the law will take its course,” he says. Ass Comm Nyathi goes on to urge Zimbabweans including the general civilians to desist from acts of violence when resolving conflicts.
“We again do not condone the abuse of service pistols and any other equipment by officers,” he adds.
