Pitso Mosimane, a prominent South African coach known for his remarkable achievements in the world of football, has officially taken up the esteemed position of head coach for Al Wahda FC. The team is a distinguished member of the United Arab Emirates Pro League.
A New Chapter
This thrilling announcement comes shortly after Mosimane’s departure from his previous club, Al Ahli Saudi, based in Saudi Arabia. It showcases his unwavering determination to leave an indelible mark on the football landscape.
Al Wahda FC announced the news on its official Twitter account: “Al Wahda FC Company has signed with the South African Technical Director Pitso Mosimane to lead the first team as a Head Coach. The Club’s Board of Directors welcomes Mr Mosimane to the Home of Champion; wishing him success in serving the club’s leadership, administration and fans ambitions.”
A Substantial Salary
While Mosimane’s representatives at MT Sports Marketing and Management have reassured South African media that the intricate details of his transition to Al Wahda will be revealed in due course, our publication has gained some insight into the substantial salary he will receive from his new employers.
It has come to our attention that Al Wahda FC had a long-standing interest in Pitso Mosimane and even attempted to lure him away from Egypt’s Al Ahly in 2021. According to an Egyptian newspaper, The Seventh Day, Al Wahda FC offered Pitso Mosimane an estimated annual salary of $5 million per season to entice him to leave Al-Ahly. This figure is three times higher than his previous earnings at the time.
This impressive sum amounts to nearly R91 million. It is speculated that Al Wahda FC might be paying the South African coach even more, considering his recent success with Al-Ahli. Mosimane led them to the Yelo League title and promotion to the Saudi Pro League.
Unpaid Salary
During an interview with the Saudi Arabian TV channel Al Arabiya, Mosimane revealed that he had not received his salary from Al Ahli since January. This was not the first instance where the club had failed to pay him, the technical team, and the players.
