Orlando Pirates have been dealt a significant blow as one of their standout performers faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Buccaneers Eye Historic Season
Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side is chasing an extraordinary 2026 campaign. Having already secured the MTN8 and Carling Knockout titles, the Buccaneers sit atop the Betway Premiership table. With a domestic quadruple still within reach, momentum is strong—but the team will now have to cope without a crucial figure in midfield.
Sihle Nduli Undergoes Surgery
Midfield powerhouse Sihle Nduli, who joined Pirates from Stellenbosch at the start of the season, has undergone foot surgery. According to Kick Off, the 27-year-old is unlikely to feature again this season.
Nduli’s influence was immense in the first half of the campaign, where he made 17 appearances and anchored the midfield with consistency and composure. His absence leaves a sizeable gap in Ouaddou’s plans.
With 164 professional matches already under his belt, Nduli’s experience and leadership will be sorely missed as Pirates push for glory.
Squad Reinforcements
The January transfer window has already seen the Buccaneers strengthen their ranks. Andre De Jong, Daniel Msendami, and Mpho Chabatsane have all joined the squad, adding depth and fresh energy.
However, with Nduli sidelined, Pirates may look to secure another midfielder capable of filling the void and sustaining their charge toward a historic season.
