Mampintsha, R Mashesha, and Danger are the founding members of Big Nuz. The Kwaito music group changed the music landscape in the country. Following R Mashesha, Big Nuz scaled down, resulting in the founding members Mampintsha and Danger working on solo projects while sometimes performing together. Mampintsha formed West Ink Records, causing a rift between the two. Danger started his record label, but he has gone quiet. Where is he now?
The rise and fall of Big Nuz
Formed in 2002, Big Nuz stole the leading stage as the most popular Kwaito group in the country. The famous group lit Mzansi with vibes since with top hits like Umlilo and Do You Still Remember. Big Nuz attracted top producers who produced high-quality music throughout its existence, the likes of DJ Tira, Professor and Blackcoffe, to mention a few. Big Nuz won several awards, including their 2008 9th AMFA best Kwaito album and the last in 2016 for the group of the year at the 22nd South African Music Awards.
The group last produced music in 2017. They have been working on solo projects ever since while sometimes performing together. They will share a stage on the 20th of March at the Fact Durban Rocks picnic.
Danger after Big Nuz collapse, Where is he now?
We take a look into how Danger is striving separately from Big Nuz.
Danger, real name Mzi Tshomela was the most affected following the rift in Big Nu. The singer opened his own record company, 108 Entertainment and released a few songs to regain the glory he once had with Big Nuz, but his impact was less felt in the industry. Along with DJ Tira, Danger released his best song after Big Nuz called Ama Versace. His failure to stamp authority again is notable to all, but his life is not yet a failure, and his record company is still up and running.
Mampintsha after Big Nuz rift
Mampintsha installed himself to the fans as the prominent member of Big Nuz as he succeeded following the separation from Danger. He opened his record company West Ink in 2017, soon after partying ways with Danger. The gigantic singer recorded hit songs at West Ink like Wololo featuring Babes Wodumo, Distruction boyz’s Shut up, and Groove, to mention a few. The success of Mampintsha both on the mic and in business is far much better than Danger. His marriage with Gqom queen Babes Wodumo cemented his position as one of the best in the genre.
DJ Tira and Danger remain hopeful that one day the Big Nuz group will gather itself and bring the music to Mzansi. “Firstly, Mampintsha, Danger and I, we are fine. There is no bad blood. Big Nuz has a New Managament. So it’s not DJ Tira’s call to say when should Big Nuz album be recorded, etc.” said Tira when responding to the questions about Big Nuz. Based on Tira’s response, we can only wait and remain hopeful that we will see Mampintsha and Danger together. That will be a classic comeback of all groups, The return of the might Big Nuz.
