Police are investigating an attempted murder case after her boyfriend allegedly set her on fire when she tried to stop him from setting fire to her car at Benoni’s nursery school.

The nursery owner, who asked not to be named, told TimesLive that the woman had just dropped off her baby when the suspect approached her car.
“She was getting into the car and he tried to get her out of the car and then he poured petrol in the car. Then she tried to stop him from pouring petrol into the car and he poured petrol on it too.
Later the car was set on fire but because it was so close to the car, it also caught fire. The child had already entered school. “It happened in the parking lot,” said the owner.
Then the man got into a taxi and tried to run over the woman. “(Another person) was also in the car and tried to run them over. The woman was on fire. He then jumped into the burning car himself but later jumped on the other side.
“Then he went back to his taxi and drank something, but then the police arrived.”
