Big Zulu was born and bred in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal; he always loved music from a young age. Although he had a passion for music, it took him years to establish a career in the music industry. Having been born in a poverty-stricken family Big Zulu missed a chance to go to secondary school, so instead, he became a tax driver. He worked as a taxi driver from a teenager until 2008 when he decided to dive into the music scene.
One may think when Zulu was a taxi driver; he used to own a tax. No, he used to work under someone who had taxes, so he was an employee.

After quitting his job as a taxi driver, Big Zulu started writing, creating and perfoming his own music. In 2009 the rapper started contesting in battle underground and would compete against other stars in the music industry. He was entitled the King Of Rap after winning a rap contest hosted by Black to the City.
He was an independent artist for six years until 2015 when he was discovered by Universal Music Records and signed a recording deal.
Under Universal Music Records, he debuted his breakthrough single, Donsa Nkabo, which was released in 2016. Ever since his breakthrough into the entertainment industry, Big Zulu has understood the concept of escaping poverty through his rapping skills.
As he was winning in his career, Big Zulu decided to create a business empire in the music industry. He founded his recording label called Inkabi Records, which is slowly becoming one of the most famous record labels in Mzansi. Besides being the CEO of Inkabi Records, the rapper has partnered with Spits as the brand ambassador of carvella.
Big Zulu has proved that nothing is impossible with determination, from a taxi driver to a big hit in hip hop music.
