No doubt many were called but few were chosen. It’s very hard to make a name for yourself in the entertainment industry at a younger age. However, Mzansi has a few celebrated actors who became reckoning forces within the entertainment industry at a younger age.
One can talk about our very own Leleti Khumalo who plays MaZulu on Imbewu. Well just like those before him Wright Ngubeni is more than a star actor but a celebrated director. However many questions might be asked where did the fast promising Generations and Rhythm City is now.
Well to those who might know him Wright Ngubeni is the famous teenager who drew love from Mzansi while acting in Generations as Jonathan Motene from 2003 to 2008. He also appeared in Rhythm City on eTV as Thula.
His role sparked mixed emotions in South Africa when he kissed his co-actor, Stone, in one of the scenes. The LGBT community had no voice in most countries because societies were yet to embrace them.
His acting career kicked off at the age of five years when he appeared in Kideo, a famous television show for children. SABC 2 was the first television channel to hire him as a television show host. He was assigned to present a school program.
The eleven-year-old Wright was given a lead role as a street kid on the series, Street Life, which was aired on SABC3. In 2000, Edgars hired him for their advert. He got international recognition when he acted the role of Nobakhaba on the Human Cargo.
In this series, he was a teenager in Burundi, whose mother was Hutu while his father was Tutsi. The war between the Hutu and the Tusi made his life a living hell.
