List of South African celebrities who studied in Zimbabwe
In recent years we have seen a flock of foreigners flooding South Africa for a better living and education. In the mix of things, some of our favourite celebrities at some point ditched the South African education system for foreign institutions.
However, after all, one can not blame because it’s one’s wish or guardians wish to educate their children where they deem necessary. Here is a list of South African celebrities who studied in Zimbabwe before their thrust into the limelight.
Themba Ndaba
Themba Ndaba is best known for his on-screen character on Mzansi Magic’s drama series The Queen as Uncle Brutus. The seasoned actor did his primary in the early 1970s before he enrolled at St Mark’s High School back in Mbabane, Swaziland.
However, of interest is that he went to further his studies at then Harare Polytechnic in Zimbabwe. The seasoned actor graduated with a Higher National Diploma in Business Studies with a distinction in economics and statistics. He furthered his studies with a Theology Diploma in Leadership and Life Training (Cum laude) with Unisa.

Tendai Mtawarira
Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira will go down in the history books as one of the best when it comes to rugby. He has been one of the jewel Mzansi boasts around with. However, in the mix of things, it seems as if he was born and raised in Zimbabwe before switching his citizenship to South Africa.
He was born on1 August 1985, in Harare, Zimbabwe. Beast went on to study at Churchill School before he was offered a life-changing scholarship with Peterhouse Boys High School because of his unmatched rugby skills.
After his stint with Sharks, Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma offered him South African citizenship. However, he went down in the history books as the most capped prop in South African history and the third most-capped Springbok of all time behind Victor Matfield and Bryan Habana.
Oskido
It’s of interest that the celebrated DJ and Kalawa Jazmee Records firebrand grew up and had his education in the second largest city of Zimbabwe, Bulawayo. His father was a celebrated Zimbabwean politician Esaph Mdlongwa, and on the other hand, his mother was South African Emily Sophia Molifi.
Despite being born in Brits, South Africa, Oskido grew up in Zimbabwe only to return to South Africa after High school.
Sophie Mphasane
Sophie completed her high school in Zimbabwe. However, she pursued her modelling career at an orphanage in Eastlea, Harare, Zimbabwe. However, this was in a bid for her to get a better education since South Africa was in apartheid era.
