Amazulu Coach Benni McCarthy gets new ‘smart car’
Football legend and current AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy is enjoying his life on and off the field.
Sitting 7th on the DStv Premiership log, McCarthy’s Amazulu is enjoying an unbeaten run that has stretched to four games.
He has also made it to the Nedbank Cup last 32 round.
To add icing on top of his recent success, Barons Durban, a VW dealer surprised him with a brand new Volkswagen T-Roc.
Volkswagen signed a sponsorship deal with Amazulu last year
“Firstly, I just want to send my gratitude and appreciation to Barons Durban for delivering me with a really smart car,” said the Usuthu coach.
The UEFA Champions League winner promised to motivate and push his players so as to allow everyone to win from the sponsorship deal.
“It is a match made in heaven and long may it continue. So, as a football club, as a coach, I’will encourage my players so that the performance on the field is fantastic and everybody wins.”
McCarthy is required to keep the car for three to four months before he can swap it or another.
Amazulu confirmed their coach received a car from their sponsor.
“We have blessed our coach Benni McCarthy with a brand new car from our official vehicle partner,” Phumlani Dube, the club’s communication head.
The former Blackburn Rovers striker has breathed fresh air into the club ever since he joined, winning five games, losing one and drawing three games along the way.
McCarthy, who formerly coached Cape Town City, was hired by Sandile Zungu to push his team into the top four at the end of the season and he looks to be on course to do so.
Amazulu’s trophy cabinet has gone for nearly two decades without refiling having last won a trophy in 1992. McCarthy is aiming at changing the Durban based side into a trophy-winning team.
