Phumzile Sitole: Who Is Captain Ndoye From Star Trek Discovery
South Africans all over the globe were elated when actress Phumzile Sitole landed the role of Captain Ndoye on Star Trek Discovery.
Phumzile is one of the new characters set to join Star Trek Discovery. This was confirmed by Trek Central’s Twitter account. The actress also spoke on the development saying:

Phumzile’s first episode will air on Thursday in the USA on CBS All Access with South Africans getting to see her in action on Friday on Netflix SA.
Congratulatory messages from fans and industry peers have continued to flood in for Phumzile Sitole on her new role as Captain Ndoye.
But who is Captain Ndoye from Star Trek Discovery? Here are a few things you did not know about Phumzile Sitole:
She was born in Johannesburg, South Africa to the famous chef and former magazine editor, Mama Dorah Sitole.
Phumzile holds a BA in Theatre and Performance from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre from Columbia University in New York.
She has so far worked on CBS series The Good Fight, Elementary, and Orange Is the New Black where she appeared as Antoinetta ‘Akers’ Kerson.
In 2017 she appeared on Lostfound, which screened at the Sundance Film Festival.
Apart from acting for TV and film, Phumzile has also worked as a stage actress. She appeared in a production of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors with the Classic Stage Company in Union Square. She has also worked as a voice actor for companies such as Nike and KFC.
