If ever you had any doubt about Percy Tau fitting in in the Premier League, we are sure tonight’s clash between Brighton & Hove put them to rest. Although Brighton failed to stand up to Manchester City, one thing was clear- Percy ‘Lion of Judah ‘ Tau is not here to play games.
Tau was signed by Brighton and Hoves in 2018 when he came in from Mamelodi Sundown. However, the skipper was loaned to Royal Union Saint-Gilloise and thereafter Club Brugge were he stood out. The player finally came home this transfer window. The player made his debut in Brighton’s clash with Newport County on Sunday in the FA Cup. While Tau didn’t start he got a few minutes coming in as a sub.
However, Percy Tau made his markin tonight’s clash with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. His swift and decisive nature came through. With a basically defensive and low lying team, Percy came through with the attack giving Brighton an edge. Percy proved to be the best man on the pitch for Brighton, creating multiple opportunities regardless of Manchester City’s swift defense quickly sorting Brighton out.
From his debut, it became clear that Percy Tau is adding a certain attacking flair that combined with Lamptey can prove to be a deadly combination.
The one hindering issue that was Brighton’s possible downfall was the struggling partnership between Tau and Trossard. Each time Tau was in the clear, Trossard struggled to locate him. One can safely assume that with a few matches, the partnership can flourish and secure many points for Hove.
South Africans took to the Brighton and Hove Twitter page to show their unwavering support for Tau.
It was a defeat with a good performance for the South African skipper. One thing is for sure- Percy Tau’s future in the Premier League is so bright we might all need glasses.
