It appears Pearl Thusi is winning. The South African personality is set to star in the Netflix series, Wu Assassins.
At the beginning of the year, Pearl Thusi announced she is in Thailand filming her next blockbuster. All it took was a little investigation from entertainment blogger, Phil Mphela and voila only to realise Pearl Thusi is set to feature in a Netflix martial arts series, Wu Assassins. The series is on it’s second season which is currently filming in Thailand. The season is being filmed as a two part movie. No official release date has been communicated for the series.
This comes as a massive win for Pearl Thusi whose series, Queen Sono was cancelled by Netflix last year after only a season. Queen Sono was Africa’s first Netflix original with Pearl Thusi playing the lead. It came with a great hype that it failed to live up to. his resulted in the show being cancelled before it could see the light of a second season. Pearl launched a petition online to try and sway Netflix’s decision to cancel the series. However the series remains cancelled despite efforts. The cancelation of Queen Sono left some entertainers out in the cold for example Vuyo Dabula, who was said to have left Generations for the Netflix show. As such, the cast including Pearl Thusi have created a Queen Sono petition to get Queen Sono back on our screens. However, the petition was met by mixed feelings like the show itself.
Other than the petition, Pearl has also been making headlines for the twars she gets caught up in with followers. The actress is not one to shy away from using the unyoko and it is agreed that it’s probably her favourite word!
Definitely an interesting year ahead for Pearl Thusi.
