Orange Farm teenager dies after meeting sangoma
A 17-year-old Samkelo Mahlobo died after meeting a sangoma. His father Vukile Mbaba said he was stopped by a sangoma who consulted him.
“He was never the same after that,” Mbada said.
Samkelo was never the same after that meeting as he started seeing certain things, talking to certain people his father wouldn’t see and saying he wanted to live with them.

Mbaba said the sangoma arrived last month in Orange Farm township, south of Johannesburg.
“I was angry that a grown man could stop a child and scare him. He should have come to us first”
“Samkelo told his mother the sangoma wanted him to thwasa.”
The one jovial Samkelo changed from being a happy person to something the family failed to understand.

The family’s situation turned from bad to worse after the teenager took money meant to buy coal for the family and paid it to the sangoma as consultation fees.
“We don’t know what he told him or gave him, but Samkelo started seeing things,” he said.
“He went missing on 13 September. We looked for him everywhere. We found his body in a dam on Friday (18 September). He was dead and his body was already in a bad state.”
The community besieged the Sangoma’s place but he allegedly denied ever meeting Samkelo.

The sangoma was attacked by the angry community and chased away according to Daily Sun. The deceased’s father did not check if all his body parts were there but he hopes his son was not zombified.
