Mzansi Magic announced a brand new upcoming epic drama series called Shaka Ilembe. Shaka Ilembe is a historical epic that tells the story of the life and times of King Shaka Zulu. Nomzamo Mbatha will be the executive producer of the show and the actress playing the role of Queen Nandi. Shaka Ilembe will come on the screens in the year 2023.
Named characters and the casting so far.
The international actress Nomzamo will play Shaka Zulu’s mother, Queen Nandi, on the show. Shaka Zulu will be played by the actor Lemohang Tsipa. Thembinkosi Mthembu will play King Dingizwayo.
Ntando Duma will play Bhibhi kaSompisi Ntuli who was Senzangakhona’s 9th wife and the mother of Sigujana. Ironic actress Sthandiwe Kgoroge will play Queen Mthaniya. Queen Mthaniya was the second wife of Mthaniya Jama and she Mother’s Senzangakhona kaJama.
Research for Shaka Ilembe
Mzansi Magic said Shaka Ilembe is a one of a kind product, and it took a total of 6 years to compile research for it. Although many productions tell the tale of Shaka Zulu, some people are sceptical if the shows capture the true essence of the events that transpired.
To make the show as realistic as possible, they consulted historians, academics and descendants of the Zulu tribe. The late King Goodwill Zwelithini and Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi were among the people they consulted.
Fans are excited
Fans expressed their excitement about the fantastic story that will grace the screens of Mzansi. Fans are even more excited at the tremendous cast that has been named so far. The concern is over if the true story of Shaka will be told in the drama series.
Costumes and looks
With productions that show the essence of African wear so far, Shaka Ilembe has done well. All the outfits look majestic with the animal skin and the feathers. How they will style the hair of the women will also be reflectional. More will be shown when the drama lands on our small screens. Filming is currently underway in both Gauteng Province and KwaZulu Natal Province.
