Police Minister Bheki Cele has told Western Cape government to follow the national lockdown procedures and stop business from selling cigarettes.
Cele said there is no province in South Africa that can make its own decisions that go against the laid down procedures of the national lockdown. It comes after Western Cape government decided to life the cigarettes ban to include cigarettes as part of essential goods.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma informed the public that informal traders who deal with foods are allowed to operate but are required to first get a permit from the council to operate.
The minister said the maximum number of 50 per funeral attendance is still applicable and has not been changed.
