DStv Prices: MULTICHOICE Zimbabwe is set to increase their Dstv subscription fee by 14.5 percent with effect from 1 June 2020.
The company in a statement said the prevailing 14,5 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) change in Zimbabwe will be incorporated in Dstv subscription charge.
It said the increase was their first adjustment of Dstv monthly subscription fees in four years.
The following will be the new DSTV prices for June 2020 in United States Dollars ($USD):
Lite $8, Access $13, Family $19, Compact $29, Compact Plus $45, Premium $75, HD PVR Premium $89, XtraView Access Fee $13 and Indian $37.
“In appreciation of the tough times in Zimbabwe, the business is adding value to its customers at a time when they need it. Dstv added new channels to its lineup, brought more of the latest movies to BoxOffice and acquired the best award-winning sport documentaries from around the globe through SuperSport,” said Multichoice.
Furthermore, new channels have been made widely accessible for credible information alongside edutainment and daily workouts designed by fitness experts.
“As a way of thanking our valued customers for their continuous support during this difficult time, Dstv launched the “We’ve Got You” campaign whereby active and disconnected automatically get upgraded to the higher package at no extra cost once they pay for their current package,” said the company.
DStv is a Sub-Saharan African direct broadcast satellite service owned by MultiChoice.
The service launched in 1995 and provides multiple channels and services to their subscribers, which currently number around 11.9 million.
DStv price increases have not been well received by customers as the feel the tariffs are too high. as most Zimbabweans do not earn foreign currency. Zimbabweans with access to the internet are likely to switch to Netflix which is a cheaper option.
