Chairperson for ICT committee and MDC Alliance Secretary General Chalton Hwende has claimed mobile network operator Netone is buying furniture for the ruling party ZANU PF.
The abuse of parastatal organisations by Zanu PF is not knew to Zimbabwe as previous court cases have proven so. During the trial of former Public Service Minister Priscilla Mupfumira court papers revealed that she used USD 400 000 for her campaigns during the 2018 elections. It is also reveled that some of the funds from NSSA were used to bank roll other candidates during the elections.
Chalton Hwende was speaking at the parliament when ZANU PF MPs were refusing to cooperate with Parliament Portfolio committees headed by MDC Alliance legislators. Hwende felt the challenge was to avoid scrutinisation of parasatatal organisations because there was abuse going on.
Hwende was speaking to Open Parly:
“NetOne has been buying furniture for Zanu PF, they don’t want the board to come here and account for public funds that are being abused at NetOne”, says Chalton Hwende Chairperson for ICT committee.
