MDC Alliance President Nelson Chamisa has spoken for the first time about the death of his mother.
Chamisa narrated how his mother raised him and her sudden death. Chamisa said, “She toiled to educate me just like all mothers do for families.She taught me industry,respect,discipline,integrity and hardwork. A hardworking, multi-talented woman.A prayer warrior &pillar in the faith.Collapsed in her garden& went to be with the Lord. Rest in power Mai Nerison!”
President Mnangagwa said, “I was sad to hear of the passing of Ambuya Chamisa, the mother of Nelson Chamisa. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nelson Chamisa and the Chamisa family at this difficult time”
The death of the opposition leader’s mother has been mourned by Zimbabweans. Fierce rival and MDC-T Acting President Thokozani Khupe also sent her condolences. She posted on her Twitter, “My deepest condolences to the Chamisa family. I pray that the lord comforts you in this difficult time. MHSRIP.”

Former Zimbabwe Foreign Minister Walter Mzembi also mourned the MDC Alliance leader’s mother, “Nematambudziko mwanamai Nelson Chamisa on the loss of our mother and matriach of the family. Please take comfort in our solidarity and sympathies with you and family at this most difficult time . May her dear soul rest in peace .”
Information Secretary Nick Mangwana posted, “It’s sad to hear that Mr Nelson Chamisa has lot his mother. Mothers embody kindness and the ultimate personal sacrifice of one person for another human being. I wish to express my deepest sympathies to him and his family in this difficult time of grief.”

United Democratic Alliance President Daniel Shumba posted on his Twitter handle, “My deepest condolences to the Chamisa family and especially to my young brother Nelson Chamisa, on the passing on of his mother. Nothing compares to the feeling, emotions, and the reality of such a loss. A love taken away to eternity. MHSRIP.”
Other opposition party leaders have also mourned Chamisa’s mother such as People First Spokesperson Jealous Mawarire and APA President Nkosana Moyo. Burial arrangements are still to be announced.
