Joining Thando Thabethe in the new Mnet investigative crime drama shot, Ryeka, in KZN is Nandi Nyembe, Hamilton Dlamini and Desmond Dube. The trio meet in the series which will premier later in the year.
Ryeka is a co-production between SA and the UK, a Serena Cullen Productions and Quizzical productions collaboration. This is an international feature as it is filmed in Mzansi and will be distributed globally by Fremantle.
Nandi Nyembe is one of South Africa’s living legends, a pioneer in the industry. She has featured in many Mzansi productions that include Zone 14 Soul Buddyz, Hillside, Erfsondes, 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls, Isithembiso, The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, Isithunzi, The Road, Isibaya and Jacob’s Cross. She also has a colorful feature film CV which include Reasonable Man (1999), Saturday Night at the Palace (1987) and Yesterday (2004).
Nandi Nyembe, Hamilton Dlamini and Desmond Dube to star in Ryeka
Joining the cast in Ryeka is Desmond Dube. While Desmond Dube is best known for Clientele ads, his on screen features go beyond ads. The actor featured in the December 2020 series, How to Ruin a Wedding. Dube has appeared in multiple local and international productions that include Panic Mechanic, The Long Run, the classic Suburban Bliss and The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency. His stint on Dube on Monday which revealed a comic streak to the actor was highly appreciated until it got canceled.
Hamilton Dhlamini is a South African actor, playwright, producer, director with vast experience. Some of his biggest appearances Isithembiso where he played Banzi Motaung, Faith like Potatoes and The King’s Messenger. Hamilton got a role in Stokvel with the role ‘Mojo Khumalo. Dlamini also got a role on Mzansi Magic’s soon to be cancelled show, Isibaya.
Thando Thabethe is set to star in Ryeka as well. Another Mzansi favourite.
Thando joined Generations as Nolwazi Mabuzo where she spent three years from 2014 to 2017. The actress also has vast hosting experience that had her hosting her own television talk show, Thando Bares it All which aired on TLC. The show got her nominated for Best TV Host and Best Talk Show. The actress walked away with the Best Talk Show win.
Thando moved on to play the lead role in Housekeepers as Linda Ndlovu, a woman seeking justice for her mother disguised as a housekeeper.
Ryeka is an 8 part series that is expected to premier in July.
