“To be handpicked to be a part of such an incredible masterpiece, a story where our BLACKNESS is king! Where our tones, our shapes, our melanin, our royal lineage, ooNkomo, Golela, Mvelase!
Thank you @beyonce for this opportunity. I am in awe of every person who played their part in what will be, a shift in black art and history.
The response that I have already received from young girls thanking me for being unapologetically dark-skinned on a global stage is amazing.
Having Beyoncé afford us the opportunity and produce such an incredible story celebrating us means that every [African] girl will be able to see herself in us. “An artists duty, is to reflect the times in which we live”
Nina SimoneAnd what a time this is!!!
I hope, no, I pray and trust, that every black girl saw themselves reflected back in us, and in all our exquisite, unlimited glory,” she said in a series of Instagram posts.
