Hailing from Mozambique, Dove joined Kaizer Chiefs from Cape Town City ahead of the 2022/23 season and made an impressive thirty-four league appearances. Unfortunately, a pre-season injury sidelined him for the first seven games of the current season. But now, he’s back in first-team training and ready to make his mark once again as his contract approaches its end.
While Dove’s return brings stability to the defense, another narrative unfolds: the emergence of Kaizer Chiefs’ prime target, Asenele Velebayi. The 21-year-old winger nearly sealed a move to the Soweto Giants during the offseason, only for Cape Town City to reject the offers.
Velebayi’s ambition burns bright. “My peers, like Rushwin Dortley, have done well. I don’t see what will stop me from reaching those levels or surpassing them,” Velebayi told FARPost. “At the moment, I’m focused on my job at Cape Town Spurs, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about the future.”
Balancing focus and aspiration, Velebayi aims high. He dreams of breaking into Bafana Bafana and follows in the footsteps of his successful peers. “We all want to rise, but it’s a process. When interests from bigger teams come, we must handle the attention.”
