Muvhango’s Dr Nthabeleng Molapo Mona Skenjana Now A Sangoma
Actress Mona Skenjana who portrayed Dr Nthabeleng Molapo on Muvhango has accepted her ancestral calling to be a Sangoma.
She told a local publication that at one time she was unable to accept the calling and had to put it on hold. Detailing her spiritual journey, Mona said she was 23 when she was told by a healer in Mpumalanga that she had a calling.
She said she was reluctant to accept it because it was a new experience for her. The actress revealed that she does not practice because people do not come to her. She said those who are called to her approach her. Since accepting her calling, the actress said she has done a few consultations although she mostly does consultations that celebrate people. Mona Skenjana said she is fond of the emotionally charged consultations like issues to do with relationships etc.
She said the process started in 2017 and now she has accepted the calling. Coincidentally the actress resigned from Muvhango that year. At the time she said she had resigned because she was craving new opportunities.
She said she does not do consultations for random people but those who are called to her. The actress is currently single following her divorce from actor Khulu Skhenjane, with whom she has a child. One of her children died.
The actress says she plans on getting back to acting soon as she is claiming her life after the divorce. She said she did not resume acting this year because it is the year of the ascension of idlozi.
Apart from Muvhango, Mona appeared in the Mzansi Magic drama series Umkhonto. She played the role of prosecutor Thenjiwe who teams up with her ex-husband to find their children who have been kidnapped.
