Keirnan Jarryd Forbes, popularly is known by his stage name AKA racked havoc on both his Twitter and Instagram accounts. He posted an image of his income tax statement, surprising his fans. From the 1st of February 2017 to the 1st of February in 2020, the rapper has paid a total of R 5,021,183.88.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS ) charges 45% and over R 5 000 000 in taxes for individuals who earn from R 16,566,600. With these figures, it’s safe to estimate the rapper has made over R11,000,000 in a single year. Aka has made around R11 million from music and business interests. SARS doesn’t collect tax from bookings, so he keeps it all. He is likely to have made more money through live performances.
How he generated all this money
AKA’s music is available in digital and physical format, and even when he’s not releasing any music, he still receives royalties. When he features on a song, he charges and owns a percentage of the song. He has a massive collaboration with Cruz Vodka; he has released watermelon and banana flavoured vodka’s and, he’s mentioned numerous times that they sell.

South Africa was shocked to see how much the rapper makes. We were all pretty aware he’s a rich man but, he has been secretive about how much he makes. Fans praised Aka for paying his taxes as many celebrities battle to do so.
Shade to Cassper Nyovest
Cassper Nyovest is the rapper AKA has had the biggest feud with; on one of Mufasa’s songs, he said, “Don’t tell me about cyphers, I’ve been battling taxes.” Many thought AKA was throwing subtle shade at him.
