Whatsapp is evolving, and the messaging app is thriving to allow its users to use their products without being connected on their mobile phones. Multi-device Whatsapp is in the testing stage.
The name of the feature is called multi-device, and Whatsapp automatically enables it for specific beta testers.
The feature is compatible with Android Android 2.21.23.10. Once Whatsapp selects your application for testing, you cannot be able to opt-out of it.
Announcement about Multi-device
In August, Whatsapp announced its plans to roll out an update that allows multi-devices to function on the same application without the need to have the phone connected to the internet.
The product is now in the testing phase, and those who have Beta can use Whatsapp on their computers, tablets and other devices while the phone with the original application is offline.
Testing multi-device Whatsapp
Users who intend to test the muti device beta version of Whatsapp can download it and link up to 4 devices and a smartphone simultaneously. After the testing phase is done, users using the regular version of Whatsapp can try it.
Reports indicate Whatsapp may force all users to use Multi-device Whatsapp in the future. Perhaps the most definite indicator that every user will be on the multi-device version is Whatsapp’s decision to remove the opt-out option on the Beta version. Users are no longer able to move out of the multi-device version anymore.
The ‘Multi-device’ beta option is no longer available.
What will happen to linked devices after rollout?
Whatsapp will log out all linked devices once the features are rolled out, and users will be required to connect their devices again using the multi-device Whatsapp version of the application.
