Mr Eazi, popular for his chant “‘Zaga what Zagadat”, is a Nigerian artist, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist. His real name is Oluwatosin Ajibade and he was born on 19th of July 1991in Port Harcourt, River State Nigeria. Meanwhile, his father Mr Ajibade was a pilot while his mother Mrs Ajibade owned a small business. Education and Qualification
Mr Eazi attended primary and secondary school in Nigeria’s second largest city Lagos. After completing high school at age 16, he relocated to the city of Kumasi in Ghana. There after, he studied Mechanical Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).While at KNUST Mr Eazi began recording music and became popular on campus. In the same vein, he utelised the platform to start a party and promotion company called Swagger Entertainment. After graduating from KNUST with a BSc Degree at age 23, Mr Eazi relocated back to Nigeria. During this period Mr Eazi embarked on six business ventures including the importation of soft drinks, gold mining, and food distribution. However, Mr Eazi still mantained ties with Ghanaian artist and made frequent visits to the country.

While in Ghana, in 2012 Mr Eazi dropped his first single “Pipi Dance.” After that, in 2013 he made a huge mark in the Ghanaian music industry when he released his debut mixtape About to Blow. The album was produced by Ghanaian producers including E-Kelly and Magnom. Further, he returned to Nigerian and released “Bankulize” (featuring Pappy Kojo) which gave birth to Banku Music. Banku music has been described as a fusion of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian chord progressions and patterns. Bankulize was produced by UK based Dj and producer Julz who produced ‘skin tight’, Mr Eazi’s following hit in 2015. The song featured Efya a female Ghanaian artist and it landed on the International scene garnering thousands of views online.

In 2016 Mr. Eazi was denied participation in the Ghana Music Awards because he did not have Ghanaian citizenship. After that, he released his second mixtape Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 – Accra To Lagos, on the 10th of February 2017. The mixtape was packed with hits featuring Tekno, Olamide, Phyno, Mugeez, Medikal, DJ Cuppy, Falz, and Big Lean. It was produced by the biggest Nigerian producers the likes of Maleek Berry, Masterkraft, Legendury Beatz and Young John. Most importantly, it debuted at number 4 on the Billboard World Albums chart. The lead song off the mixtape was ‘leg over’ which went viral and a dance challenge was created for the song. Mr Eazi signed a record deal with Diplo’s label – Mad Decent in March 2018. Afterwards, he signed a licensing deal with Universal Africa – a subsidiary of Universal Music Group.

Empawa Africa
In a bid to assist emerging African artists, Mr Eazi founded Empawa Africa a talent incubation initiative. It was established to nurture and support up-and-coming African artists. Rising stars Joe Boy and Djerobie have made names for themselves in the music industry as a result of the Empawa initiative. Joe Boy released ‘Baby’ in 2019 which went viral due to its animated visual and topped UK and African charts. He also collaborated with Mr Eazi on a track titled ‘Faji’.
