Mpumi is a dominant South African singer, music writer and vocalist. She was born of the 19th of January 1982 in Ndwedwe, Kwa Zulu Natal. Her real name is Nompumelelo Claudia Mzobe. Mpumi is one of the best female vocalists in South Africa and is a constant hit maker. Mpumi was raised together with four other siblings by her widowed mother. Her father died while she was little and left five kids. Their family was poor and her mother worked as domestic worker to cater for all necessities. After political instability rocked their township they relocated to Ntuzuma township in Durban. The Mpumi Biography narrates a story of hard work and determination.

In her early life Mpumi struggled to get educated. Her mother managed to enroll her at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), which used to be known as Technikon Natal. Whilst at DUT she studied video technology for a short period before she dropped out due to lack of tuition fees. The educational route to success did not work out therefore she decided to pursue her childhood dream of singing. Consequently, she joined Mbongeni Ngema’s Academy of Performing Arts where she perfected her musical talent. However, when she finally saved money, she got back to school.

Career Beginnings
Mpumi’s musical journey was as much of a struggle as her mother’s life. The talented singer started singing at a very young age and performed whenever she found the audience wayback in primary school. She revealed that most record labels rejected her, which almost killed her dream. Finally, her break came through when she was discovered by one of the country’s biggest producers Heavy K the Drumboss. Heavy K provided her with a recording platform and helped her work on Umoya, which was a hit. She has since then captured the hearts of South Africans and the rest of Africa with her smooth vocals.

After featuring on Heavy K’s Wena, Mpumi also dropped singles like Somandla, The beginning and Love hurts. In 2016 Mpumi released her debut album titled ‘The Birth of Mpumi”. Mpumi Releases second Album
On the 31st of July 2020, Mpumi released her much anticipated self titled album, ‘Nompumelelo’. She never seems to disappoint, her tracks are certified hits. The album includes features from Claudio and Kenza on ‘Uzobuya’ as well as ‘Blackman’ featuring the queen of Afro Soul, Bucie. Mpumi was super excited to share the news with her fans. Mpumi Boyfriend
Mpumi is scretive of her love affairs and currently is not known who she is dating. However, in 2015 Mpumi revealed that she suffered a heart break from a man which she did not disclose. She struggled to be silent about the heart break till she poured it out on her song ‘izulu’. Ever since that time, no news about her relationships have surfaced.
