In the celebrity world, it can be difficult to tell who is a true friend and who is not. That’s why it’s so important to protect your close friendships and nurture the relationships that were there before you became famous.
Mondli Makhoba recently opened up about his friendship with SAFTA award-winning actor Wiseman Mcube and their shared experiences. The two first met in 2012 while working on the theatre show Amambazo Musica. Later, in 2017, Wiseman offered Mondli a place to stay while filming Isithembiso in Johannesburg. Their bond has only grown stronger since then.
Taking on Instagram Mondli wrote:
“To me, he is a brother … There are a lot of things we did, and [that were] done to us. One of the things is that we were robbed of R10k. We lost the money, but our losing the money came with a realisation that our friendship was deeper than we thought. We started motivating each other, walking back from being homeless,”

Mondli spoke about how proud he was of their journey together in the acting industry and both being cast in Mzansi Magic’s prime-time drama series Shaka iLembe.
“Mkhulu, you are great at what you do as an actor. I remember when we were working out at Virgin Active Milpark, when I got the Generations: the Legacy email, you were doing Ring of Lies. I remember when we both left the house for SABC to work on Generations: the Legacy together. You were Skhalo, I was the Captain. I remember how proud I was when you started at Uzalo. I later got Imbewu, you were killing it on Uzalo. When you came to The Wife, I knew the character was safe.
“Now that we are on Shaka iLembe together, I’m proud of our journey. I appreciate you, Mahlobo. You are part of my story. And I cannot be told without you in it.”
