DJ Maphorisa took to the socials to express his feelings about working with Mlindo The Vocalist in future projects. LAWD porry said he is keen on working with the vocalist again, despite Mlindo proving that he’s not trustworthy in the past.
Mlindo The Vocalist’s career
Mlindo broke into the Mzansi musical industry in the year 2010. He only became recognisable in 2018; that’s when Mlindo released the single hit AmaBlesser. AmaBlesser was a song produced by DJ Maphorisa, and at the time, Mlindo was signed under Maphorisa’s record label.

Before Maphorisa venting about the issue on social media, nobody understood how Mlindo The Vocalist was discovered or how he ended up working with such a prominent artist like Phori.
We learned that Mlindo hailed from KwaZulu Natal Province with just his dreams and voice to Johannesburg. Upon arriving, he didn’t have a single contact. Maphorisa asked his ( then flat broke friend ) Nyiko to manage Mlindo and show him the ropes in the industry.
After some time, Maphorisa heard through the grapevine that Mlindo was now managed by Nyiko full time. Suddenly, Dj Maphorisa was excluded from Nyiko and Mlindo’s dealings, and both men disregarded the producer.
The great betrayal
As if excluding Maphorisa ultimately wasn’t enough, they cut him off completely. They also cut him off his earned percentage of all their profits. Maphorisa, however, didn’t dwell too much on this. Despite Mlindo still being his artist and not delivering anything, he continued with his career.
Mlindo falls off the stage.
After a while, Mlindo was suddenly no longer releasing any more music. He fell from the stage whilst performing his old songs. There were numerous speculations about possible drug use and more upon his fall.
Mlindo’s silence
Over time, more artists come into the music scene, and older songs wither with time, becoming less and less relevant. Mlindo hasn’t released any new music and has approached Maphorisa to work with him again.
Maphorisa says he’s willing to work with him again. If he pulls other stunts of betrayal like this, nobody in the industry will want to touch him ever again.
