This looks great for the show because Mihlali’s fans will increase views for the show. Her social media influence is expected to positively affect the show’s ratings. However, other people are not overally pleased with the development. These feel the acting industry is losing its values and taking influencers but shunning those who have gone to college to do acting.
Here are some of their comments:
“Just because she is an influencer and has a lot of followers she got an actig gig while there are other talented people out there who have degrees in drama but no opportunities because they are nothing…yoh South Africa.”
“I think it’s high time we close down SABC 1, SABC 2, SABC 3 and etv for protest. I have a friend with a degree in drama he has been done for 3 years and I believe there are others. The whole point is I think once you poor you will remain poor.”
“Congratulations. Are we then shunning those who studied and still studying the craft of acting?”
