Mihlali Ndamase celebrate a significant milestone in her journey towards sobriety
Mihlali Ndamase has been working on rebranding herself on social media. This year, she is focused on growing her business Malakyt and continuing to be one of the country’s leading and highest-paid influencers and digital content creators.
Despite her focus on her business and career, Mihlali is not afraid to speak out and defend herself when she feels it is necessary. Recently, she addressed some of the burning topics regarding events in her private life on social media. This included speaking about her journey towards sobriety, her relationship with “married” man Leeroy Sidambe, and the end of her friendship with fellow content creator Zola Joka.
Mihlali Ndamase was recently a guest on a YouTube-based podcast hosted by rapper L-Tido. During the interview, L-Tido quickly got to the heart of the matter by congratulating Mihlali on her achievement of being sober for a month. He then asked her about the reason behind her decision to become sober. Mihlali explained her reasons in part during the interview.
“And you know, I never had the habit of blacking out. Sana, I started blacking out recently and that’s when I was like- And not like blacking out, passing out. I was like, I’m a functioning drunk. So, I can be very lit and… And someone would say, “No, but you seemed fine…”

Mihlali Ndamase has taken a firm stance on the matter of her sobriety. It is possible that her recent altercation with Leeroy, rumoured to have threatened the stability of their relationship, may have been the push she needed to put down the bottle of champagne. In addition, Mihlali has finally addressed the topic of dating a “married” man. She shared her thoughts on the matter during a recent interview.
“Well, I mean because obviously he is not divorced, like, legally… But- Yes, it’s a long process (speaking on the divorce proceedings), and I mean, we’ve seen celebrities go through… We’ve seen people who are- have filed for divorce or whatever, who do move on with their lives or get into relationships or whatever. That’s the situation my partner and I are in…”
Mihlali Ndamase recently addressed the end of her friendship with fellow content creator Zola Joka. It was believed that their friendship ended due to an incident where Zola recorded Mihlali during an event that resulted in Mihlali fracturing her ankle. Many people assumed that Mihlali ended the friendship when Zola went on Instagram Live when paramedics arrived to help Mihlali.
However, Mihlali has denied that this was the reason for the end of their friendship. When asked if she and Zola were still friends, Mihlali did not confirm or deny it. Instead, she simply stated that she would rather not speak about it.
