Menzi was on 4 September 1964 in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal province. He is married to wife Sikelelo Sishuba. Menzi and Sikelelo were previously divorced but re-married in a traditional ceremony in 2015.
Ngubane established his name in the entertainment scene when he played Sibusiso Dlomo on soap opera Generations from 2003 to 2014. He and fellow cast members where chopped off the soapie after protesting for better contracts and working conditions. Menzi Ngubane survived kidney failure and went through a successful kidney. In 2013 Menzi Ngubane went through a bitter public divorce from his ex-wife Lerato Sedibe leading the actor to find love again in the arms of Sikelelo Sishuba his first wife.
The actor played numerous roles on other South African TV shows, including Yizo Yizo, Ashes to Ashes, Gold Diggers, and Heist. In 2016, Menzi Ngubane joined the cast of the television drama series Isibaya, playing a taxi firm manager with a dubious past.
Menzi appeared in many South African films including How to Steal 2 million alongside legendary Rapulana Seiphemo.
