Meet Pumeza Matshikiza, The Woman Simphiwe Dana Is Getting Married To
Award-winning musician Simphiwe Dana sent fans in a temporary state of shock when she announced out of nowhere that she is getting married to a woman.
The musician announced on Twitter that she is getting married to Pumeza Matshikiza a well-known opera singer.
Simphiwe started by announcing that she is gay. This was followed by a series of tweets that led to her announcing her marriage. She said her decision to marry a woman might get her canceled but she does not mind at all because she will be happier.

Until the musician’s announcement, Pumeza Matshikiza and Simphiwe Dana have kept their relationship under wraps.
But who is Pumeza Matshikiza?
She was born in Eastern Cape. The opera singer studied at the South African College of Music, University of Cape Town, and at the Royal College of Music in London on a full scholarship.
In 2014 she released her debut album Voice of Hope’. The follow up to Voice of Hope, ‘Arias’ was released in May 2016. The album showcased Pumeza’s ability to portray various operatic roles from Purcell to Puccini. On the album, she also sang newly arranged art songs by Faure, Hahn, and Tosti.
She has done solo shows in Copenhagen, Gothenburg, and Krakow. In October 2015 she achieved a milestone when she made her debut with Sir Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra dell’Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome. To top it off she sang the world premiere of Luca Francesconi’s Bread, Water, and Salt, based on the famous speech by Nelson Mandela.
In July this year, the singer announced that she had tested positive for Covid-19. This was a few days after she has been hospitalized for exhibiting covid like symptoms.
