A new Miss World South Africa was crowned on Saturday at a glamorous event in Pretoria. Claude Mashego, a 24-year-old medical doctor from Mpumalanga, beat 11 other contestants to win the coveted title. She will now represent the country at the international Miss World pageant in India later this year.
Mashego said she was honoured and humbled by the opportunity to serve as Miss World South Africa. She plans to use her platform to empower young leaders and community builders across the continent through her non-profit organisation, the Young Leaders Network.
The Miss World South Africa pageant is a new initiative by Carol Bouwer Productions. It aims to showcase beauty with a purpose and create a pathway to global impact through beauty and service.
