Below is a map highlighting the places in Harare where covid-19 has been confirmed:
The green dots on the map show the residential places where covid-19 cases have been recorded.
A number of businesses in Harare have been closed as a result of Covid-19. Supermarkets such as TM Pick n Pay, OK Zimbabwe Ltd and Zimbabwe’s largest mobile service provider Econet have had workers who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The Parliament of Zimbabwe recently suspended business after legislators tested positive for covid-19.
Avenues Clinic in Harare was not admitting patients on Sunday after the hospital announced that a nurse in the casualty department tested positive for Covid-19 after handling an infected patient.
There are also reports that Zimbabwe’s largest referral hospital, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare recently recorded 70 staff members who tested positive to Covid-19,
The number of local infections has resulted in Zimbabwe’s Government tightening lockdown regulations through the introduction of a 6PM to 6AM curfew and a new regulation that prohibits non-essential service workers from entering the central business districts (CBDs).
However, the new regulations have created problems which may also result in the transmission of covid-19. For example, there is no social distancing in Zupco bus queues or even in the buses themselves.
