Mampintsha Career
The South African recording artist started off in the musical group “Big Nuz” in 2002 and Mampintsha was only 20 years of age. The group’s members were Mandla Maphumulo (a.k.a. Mampintsha), Mzi (a.k.a. Danger) and Sbu (a.k.a. Mashesha). In a quest to secure a recording contract, the group performs a jingle backstage on etv. When they fail to get the recording contract, they collaborate with Koloi Lebone and Beatmaker. The songs have not been released. In 2014, the group features in a song “Boom Boom”, by a Kwaito artist named Ishmael. Finally they secure a recording contract in 2018 with Gallo Records and release their debut album “Zozo”. Unfortunately the album does not thrive and the record label is criticised for poor management.
Big Nuz and DJ Tira
As things were going south, the group decides to go back to Johannesburg to work with the exceptional DJ Tira on a song, ”Uyoysholo Wena”. In 2008, the group releases an album, ”2nd Round Knockout” subsequent to signing a contract with the Afrotainment recording label. Sales start soaring and the album sells over 20 000 copies in South Africa earning the title “Kwaito Kings”. That same year, Big Nuz releases a third album, “Undisputed” and collaborate with DJ Tira and DJ Fisherman.

Mampintsha Wife
Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo really deserve to be the 21st century Bonnie and Clyde or South Africa’s Bobby and Whitney as they never run out of drama. The couple has a very complicated and toxic relationship but they really don’t care what everyone else says. Mampintsha’s wife is Babes Wodumo (Bongekile Selimane). The duo suddenly posts a picture on Instagram showing off their wedding rings without even making a marriage announcement.
Talk about the most condemned marriage in South Africa, talk about Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo. Ever since 2018 when abuse allegations surfaced, tongues started wagging. Despite all the rumours, the couple tries so hard to convince the world that they are in love.
Mampintsha Children
Artists usually pull PR stunts to promote their music and Mampintsha is one of them. Babes Wodumo at one point teases a special announcement on social media and leads everyone to think that the couple was expecting. This later turns out to be a promotion for a music video.

Mampintsha Assault Claims
When Babes Wodumo records a video on her Instagram live feed while arguing with Mampintsha, the latter takes to Facebook to release a statement. “Everything you hear and everything you see, nothing is what it seems. Out of respect for the relationship we had and for the people who supported us, I have chosen to not discuss this matter beyond this statement,” it read.
Babes files a law-suit against Mampintsha for assault but the two never make it to court as Babes drops the charges. This is as a result of adhering to the ADR process. “The matter was finalised in that the charge against Maphumulo was withdrawn. This is because both parties adhered to the ADR [mediation] process they committed to,” a spokesperson of the NPA commented.
Mampintsha’s Management Sues Apple Music
For every action, there is always a consequence. Mampintsha’s assault charges had a ripple effect on his career. His music was removed from Apple Music and his management retaliated and sued the former.”I have attempted to reach Apple but I have now handed over everything to my lawyers. We had a contractual agreement with Apple and upon hearing the news of Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo’s dispute, the store was supposed to consult with us and tell us why they would be removing our goods from the store. Mampintsha has not been convicted by law and has paid Apple to load goods onto the store. On top of that, the store is getting a percentage from his products being on their store.”
Money scandal
The Kwaito King purportedly ducked with R20,000 of Gesh Lounge and Entertainment owner Bhekani Ndlovu’s money. This is after Mampintsha has to entertain his legion of fans at a Weekend Shutdown but is nowhere to be found. “Mampintsha told me he was booked for another gig here in Empangeni and didn’t mind coming to Gesh Lounge afterwards. He demanded that I pay R20 000 before the event,” club owner told Daily Sun.
Mampintsha Reality show blocked
After Babes drops the assault charges, people start pointing out how toxic their relationship is. In a quest to open up to the world, the couple decide to create a reality show called Impilo. Some footage from the show reveals their unstable relationship and the preview released by the channel, leave viewers in awe. Masses point out that the show is not fit to air on television as it entails a lot of abuse and violence.
Mampintsha and Babes later took to Instagram to apologise.“As you well know, the past few days have been been difficult for us, our fans, and our family members due to material posted on social media about us. We noted with great concern your comments and expressions of disappointment at us. We wish to assure you that your disappointment is of great regret to us, as we only seek to entertain you during the times of disappointment, and not the opposite. As your entertainers, and sometimes inspires, we always strive to keep you seeing us in a good light. However, as human beings, we accept with regret that we will fail you at time.”
Mamphintsha’s Weight Loss
What happened to the hefty Mamphintsha? Eyebrows raise when the Kwaito King in November 2019 posts a video dancing to his new song. He looks way leaner than what people are used to and so everyone has their own explanation as to why Mampintsha has dropped some kilos. The Big Nuz star takes to Twitter to settle the dust. “If people think I’m sick it’s fine, that’s their problem. I’m not sick, I’m okay. If you want to know about my weight loss, get the weekend paper.”
Mampintsha Net worth
Mampintsha has a net worth of USD$400 000 and he announced in September last year that he wants to launch his own gin called “Original Shandis Gin”. Kulaba Engihlala Ngihleka nabo”, loosely translated, “I will create job opportunities with this bottle. I hope I will get support from the people that I always laugh with.” The gin is an African vibe and will be available in black current flavour with 45% alcohol content.
