Mamelodi Sundowns VS Moroka Swallows: Battle for Supremacy
Mzansi’s biggest match in 2021, a top-of-the-table clash, rolls off at 1300hrs (UCT) at Loftus Versfeld Stadium stadium, Tshwane/Pretoria city. It’s a show down, as the two top teams in the DStv Premiership, Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows lock horns in a battle for supremacy. Both teams are tied at 26 points, with the Brazilians on the summit due to goal difference. Coincidentally, both teams have identical records this season, seven wins and five draws in their 12 matches to date.
Although Sundowns have won the last six encounters in a row (since 2015), lately they have been out of form, as they have been held to two consecutive goalless draws. It is the first time Sundowns have failed to score in consecutive games since April 2019, though they did go four games without scoring in August 2018. On the other hand, Swallows are hungry for a redeeming victory after a disappointing 1-1 home draw against lowly Chippa United in midweek. Despite this blow, they have impressively scooped three wins and three draws from their six away games this season.
