Mama Joy, a South African sports fan who is famous for supporting Orlando Pirates and Royal AM, returned from her trip to France with more than just memories of the Rugby World Cup. She also met her new lover, who spoiled her with Gucci presents.
Mama Joy shared pictures of herself and her partner, as well as the gifts he bought her, on her X account (formerly Twitter) on Saturday morning. She wrote: “What about this, my man has got a taste. Thanks Babe for the gifts, what do you think SA, [I] am a lucky woman nee”.
Mama Joy, whose real name is Joy Chauke, was one of the two fans who travelled to France to cheer for the Springboks last month, along with Botha Msila. Their trip caused some controversy, as some people questioned how they could afford it and who paid for it.

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture confirmed that they paid for the return flights and accommodation of the two fans, but did not reveal the cost. They said that Mama Joy and Botha were not paid by the department to go to stadiums.
However, Democratic Alliance (DA) spokesperson Renaldo Gouws criticised the department’s decision, saying that the money should have been used to support struggling athletes instead of sports fans. He claimed that he found out that the two fans were paid by taxpayers to go to sporting events across the world to ‘represent’ SA.
Mama Joy defended her trip in an interview with Robert Marawa earlier this month. She said that sport was like a tablet for her and that she did not care who paid for her to be at the World Cup. She also expressed her desire to go to India to support the Proteas men’s cricket team at the World Cup, saying that she was ready to go any day.
