It’s that time of the year when radios shake things up, new hosts coming in and the old leaving. However, YFm is probably seeing the biggest shakeup to radio this year with many fan favorites who have been there for a long tine leaving thw station.
Altovise Lawrence and DJ Sabby put down their mics for The Best Drive as they leave the station. Sabelo “Sabby” Mtshali spent 10 years at the station and will be ending his stint on the 26th of March. He joined the station through the Y- Academy radio training programme.
“I found my voice on YFM and I got to harness my skills and perfect my craft to what it is today. I truly had an organic growth within the YFM umbrella and for me that’s genuinely one thing I loved about the space because every year I could point out my growth and work on my weaknesses. I’m so excited and nervous at the same time. The butterflies in my stomach are louder at this moment and that’s the feeling that keeps me going because once it goes off – I’d be scared. I’m excited to meet new people, a new team to rep, introduce myself to new listeners and grow in spaces that I am not familiar with at the moment, but most importantly to engage in new ideas with a different approach to my current template.” he said.
Major radio changes as DJs leave YFm
Anathi Seyisi who hosts Nights on Y will be leaving the station too. Anathi used to host Wake Up with Anathi before shifting to Nights on Y.
Lebza the Villain resigned in November 2020 and will be exciting the station on the 26th of March after 5 years. The DJ has already announced a groove schedule for his life after Yfm.
Having spent 10 years at YFM, Kutloano “Da Kruk” Nhlapo leaves YFm. He hosted a weekly dance show, The Players Club and the Sinday Social.
However, YFm is not the only radio station to see the departure of new hosts. Thando Thabethe joining 947 to replace DJ Fresh is proving to be one of the biggest news currently. Tholi Bologo and Msizi James have joined the 947 family to host the Saturday and Sunday 14.00 to 18.00 new show Tholi B weekends and weekday mornings 9.00 to 12.00 respectively.
Mantsoe Pout is also reported to bs leaving 947.
