ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule’s supporters have vowed to go to war if he is arrested. Several party bigwigs have shown their support for the embattled ruling party administrator after news filtered that a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Tony Yengeni, Ekurhuleni mayor and ANC Gauteng provincial executive member Mzwandile Masina are some of the ANC top brasses that have publicly backed corruption accused Magashule.
“@Magashule_Ace is the secretary-general of the ANC,” Masina tweeted, while Yengeni, who recently called on Ramaphosa to step down, tweeted: “Sleep well SG..and be strong..!
Former North West premier and chairperson of the ANC in the North West Supra Mahumapelo tweeted: “Timidity on clear acts of counterrevolution is a danger to the revolution”.
The ANC Youth League structures in Free State and Vhembe region of Limpopo issued statements last night following an IOL report that revealed that Magashule confirmed his impending arrest.
“The ANC Youth League in Vhembe region will mobilise all its subregions in defence of the ANC SG (Magashule), the same way we will defend all ANC leaders when law enforcement is being applied illogically,” a statement from the region reads.
The Radical Economic Transformation Champions also issued a statement in support of Magashule.
Part of the statement read:
We have learnt with disgust an evil plot to arrest the Secretary-General of the African National Congress. Such a move is an indictment to the foundations of our democratic society. A society that is fresh from the worst form of evil rule ever designed by the human race, the white minority rule, Apartheid.
As Ret Champion we strongly condemn what appears to be the use of state machinery to silence and score political goals. The fight against corruption must in itself be fair and just and based on unbiased rule of law. It must apply to all citizens of our country without any fear or favour. Not only does it need to be fair and just but it must be perceived so.It is unimaginable to have a free, credible justice system that can fight corruption when the man entrusted with constitutional powers to appoint people to critical positions in the justice system, such as the appointment of the National Director of Public Prosecution, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa is himself fingered and alleged to have fraudulently acquired the presidency of the ruling party and ultimately of the country in undemocratic means. Any reasonable impartial man would not for a minute expect that the man entrusted with so much power in our country would unilaterally bring back through back door what appears to be a secrecy bill. The sealed “corruption of CR17 bank statement ” undermines the jurisprudence of our country.
As RET Champion we are not going to sit back and fold our arms and allow Cde Ace Magashule is being assassinated through courts…
