On Thursday, May 18th, Lynn Forbes, the mother of the late rapper AKA, wrote a heartfelt birthday message to Nadia Nakai, who was her son’s girlfriend at the time of his death. AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was tragically killed in a shooting outside Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on February 10th, along with his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

In her birthday tribute to Nadia, Lynn Forbes expressed her love for the rapper and shared a video of her granddaughter Kairo Forbes interacting with her. Kairo is the daughter of AKA and DJ Zinhle.
“Happy birthday @nadianakai 💐. You are one of the most beautiful humans I know and your light radiates from within. Thank you for being you. You are a blessing and it is an honour to know you. Keep on shining your light into the world,” she wrote.
“I wish you endless blessings, love and joy. You deserve only the best and it will come to you in ways you cannot begin to imagine. We love you 🙏🏽❤️,” she continued
