Lunga Shabalala Confirms He Is Leaving The River
Lunga Shabalala has confirmed that he is indeed leaving 1Magic’s The River.
The television presenter who made his debut as an actor on The River as Lindani confirmed that his journey on the soapie has ended. He said the days on The River were an amazing experience adding that he is grateful to the creators of the show for the opportunity to be part of an amazing team.
Lunga told a publication that although he is leaving The River, he has made friends and family at the show. He did not give away what he will be doing next but if his last social media post is anything to go by, he has already started working on his next gig. The Pietermaritzburg native recently posted a picture of himself on social media on the set of what appears to be his new project.
He confirmed that the next project is in the works but did not reveal any names saying that it will be revealed soon.
Speaking on the criticism he received for his acting whilst on The River, Lunga said he was unfazed. The actor said people talk all the time and one cannot live in fear of being criticised. He said there were fans who showed him love especially with the cheating storyline.
Apart from appearing on The River as Lindani, Lunga has also appeared on a number of shows. He made an appearance on 10 Over 10 as a Commentator and on Celebrity MasterChef South Africa as a Contestant. He was cast in a Coca-Cola television advert as a model before he represented South Africa, in a Calvin Klein modelling competition where he emerged top. Subsequently, he was declared the face of Calvin Klein’s men’s underwear range. In 2011 Lunga Shabalala was listed on Cosmo Sexiest Hunks Calendar as one of the most desirable men.
