Loyiso was born on the 7th of September in the Eastern Cape. The family then moved to Pinetown in KwaZulu Natal. Here they settled down and tried to make a life for themselves. However their peace was cut short when the family went through a traumatic experience. Loyiso suffered sexual molestation and abuse at the hands of a neighbor. He managed to get the courage to speak up about it as a child. This led to the neighbor being caught. Due to Loyiso’s courage, many other boys who had suffered at his hands came forward.

Loyiso is of Scottish heritage from his mother’s side of the family. The surname Macdonald is his mother’s maiden name. It belonged to his great, great grandfather who was Scottish. The name was passed down generations until it found its way to Loyiso.

Career
His first notable TV role was as Ntando Sibeko on Isidingo. Despite his mature age, he managed to pull off the role of the young Sibeko man. In 2013 he appeared in Intersexions as Jabu. Followed by his recurring role on Rockville as Africa Mbatha. This led to another Ferguson Films production role for Loyiso. He was cast as the unforgettable Kagiso Khoza on The Queen.
Some of his smaller roles include Gold Diggers, Those who cant and Zabalaza just to mention a few. He bounced around from job to job. Once worked at a bank and even at a telecommunications center. He finally decided upon acting in 2007.
This led to a theatre career. He appeared in theater productions of Hamlet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Loyiso also worked with Durban Theater for four years before he relocated to Johannesburg.

On the 30th of September 2012, Loyiso married his longtime girlfriend Luphiwo. Luphiwo is a musician and they had known each other for a long time. He has said that marriage has had an effect on his mindset. “For any person who gets married, it calms you down a lot. I used to take a lot of risks. Now it becomes about two people than just my own best interests. You have to put someone else in your decision making,” he says.
However rumors have been swelling that his marriage is on the rocks. Apparently Loyiso has quite the wandering eye and Luphiwo has had enough of it. She went and confronted him on set. She was shouting and yelling at him, airing out their dirty laundry for anyone and everyone to hear.
