Morgan Komichi has called himself the MDC-T Chairperson soon after the court ruling that reinstated Thokozani Khupe as the leader of the party. He read out a prepared statement reinstating all members of the MDC who were either fired or suspended from the party since February 2018. He called on all party members to side with Khupe.
It turns out that Lovemore Moyo was the chairperson of the party at the time of Morgan Tsvangirai’s death and not Komichi. Lovemore Moyo was the chairman of MDCT and only resigned on the 22nd of March, over a month after Tsvangirai’s death.
Morgan Komichi was in violation of the same court order as he stood out to reverse decisions made by Chamisa. The court ruled that the structures should be reinstated to 14 February 2018 and Komichi was not the chair so Lovemore Moyo was the right person to make those pronouncements.
