Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe is charging a maximum deposit of USD 5,000 for Covid-19 patients needing ICU hospitalisation. The total price for hospitalisation is not fixed as it depends on the number of days a patient needs.
The hospital published a notice part of which read:
Kindly be advised that all COVID patients are required to pay USD deposits, USD60.00 for casualty, USD3000.00 for General Ward and USD5000.00 for ICU Hospitalization.

The news has been met with disgruntlement from the public as they will not be able to afford such high fees. The situation has been worsened by government nurses and doctors who are on strike.
